I know I've posted several times that the two latest Against Nature releases would be out on CD soon. But I've changed my mind about this and future AN CDs releases. Bland Hand Records was originally conceived as an Internet-only label, but we've always pressed CDs for those who wanted them because there was a small demand for them. Now, however, even that demand is disappearing. So "Drawing Arrows" will be the final AN CD release. We're happy to provide the music for free as downloads, and every release is always available as both high-quality .mp3s and .wavs. We'll continue to do this, even if no one is listening. It makes us happy to share our music with everyone, and that's the philosophy behind every release on Bland Hand.

The music world is different today, and I've never been the best at business or promotion, which I see as a distraction from my passion: making music. It also could be that we release so much music. But there's no way I'm going to compromise how we work as musicians in order to make a business decision, that is, the selling of our music.

I put a lot of my money into the CD releases, and countless hours into designing and executing the covers. I wanted to make the discs special by creating unique artwork and handmade covers, signed and numbered, above all, to make them personal--not like some mass produced release. It's always been a work of love for me, just as making the music is a work of love for Bert, Steve, and me. But fewer people seem interested in the discs with every release, so maybe it's time to let go of the physical media.

Maybe I will continue to make covers for the few people who want discs, and burn the actual CDs in my computer, one at a time, if anyone asks. Or maybe I'll just make covers for those who burn their own discs, if they want special covers. I haven't decided this yet.

So thank you to everyone who has bought Against Nature discs in the past. I really do appreciate it, and I hope you enjoy them.

We lost a dear friend on Friday, Phil "Dr. Phibes" Markonish (1966-2010). Phil was a passionate heavy music fan his entire life, a true supporter of the bands and people he loved and who loved him. I was honored to offer his solo music, "Dr. Phibes' Burning Illusions," so everyone could hear just how wonderful a musician he was. He also left behind an artistic legacy as an former member of Blood Farmers and Hordes of Mungo. He was my friend, and I will miss him dearly. Please download his music and remember him.
